KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 20 (UPI) -- Actress Jane Fonda
declined to press charges against a Kansas City, Mo., man who spat
tobacco juice on her at a book-signing stop.
Police said Michael Smith, 54, waited in line about 90
minutes Tuesday night as fans waited for the Academy Award-winning
actress to sign copies of her book, "My Life So Far."
When he approached the 67-year-old actress, Smith suddenly
spat a large amount of tobacco juice in her face, KMBC-TV, Kansas
City, reported Wednesday.
He then ran away, but was apprehended by off-duty police
working security.
Although Fonda declined to press charges, police charged
Smith with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.
While Fonda has apologized for protesting the Vietnam war by
having her photograph taken in a North Vietnamese tank in 1972, many
veterans and their families still begrudge what Fonda herself called
"an incredible lapse in judgment."
Stupid pigs. She deserves alot more than that.
